JOHN MATTIUZZI
WEB DESIGNER, CO-FOUNDER
Prior to working in film, I mostly considered myself a graffiti artist. I could be found scaling building tops and cruising train yards in search of the perfect canvas. In 2005, I received my BFA at SUNY Purchase, and moved to Mexico for a year and volunteered as an English Professor at the Universidad Tecnológica de Tula-Tepeji. While in Mexico, I grew extremely passionate towards the Latino culture--not knowing then--that it would eventually play a major influence on the social and political voice experienced throughout my first feature film, La Americana. La Americana has screened at more than 30 film festivals, has won 8 Best Film awards, and also has been awarded grants from NYSCA and The Fledgling Fund. I was also recently accepted into the prestigious computer art graduate program at The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. While at school, I do plan to continue working on the expansion of FreeArt.
